Man arrested for allegedly driving recklessly, fatally striking pedestrian in Fremont

On Saturday just after 4 p.m., Fremont officers saw a vehicle speeding and driving recklessly in the area of Osgood Road, south of Auto Mall Parkway, the department said. A traffic stop was initiated but the car allegedly sped away from the scene. In the interest of public safety, police said they decided not the chase the car. A short time later, the same vehicle was allegedly involved in a collision at the intersection of Osgood Road and South Grimmer Boulevard. According to police, the car collided with another vehicle, lost control, and then entered the sidewalk, hitting a pedestrian.
